We are thrilled to announce that actor, producer and writer
Daniel Kaluuya has partnered with the Roundhouse including a new role as Associate Artistic Director.

8 June 2023

Daniel, who is famous for roles in Get Out, Black Panther, Judas and the Black Messiah and Spider-Man: Across The Spider-Verse, has had a long relationship with the Roundhouse, taking part in acting and radio programmes as a teenager.

Now, he will create and lead the new youth theatre company working with young people aged 13-25; and act as a creative partner to the Roundhouse.

Fully entitled Centre 59. Founded by Daniel Kaluuya at the Roundhouse, the theatre company will support young people from all backgrounds to develop their passion and skills in the performing arts.

We already offer young people affordable access to creative projects with sessions for maximum £2 per hour, and Centre 59 will continue that practice to open up access to the industry. Not only will young people gain valuable and practical experience but Centre 59 will also help them to build networks and important life skills.

After attending drama classes at the Roundhouse 20 years ago, establishing Centre 59 in my first act as Associate Artistic Director is a full circle moment. It is a great opportunity to pay forward what I appreciated receiving in my own youth – and creating Centre 59 is the perfect way to do that. With shared values of community, taking action and legacy, Roundhouse is the ideal partner.
