Since forming in 2016 in Brighton, Squid has transformed from a jazz collective into one of the most inventive bands in art rock, known for chaotic, incendiary live shows and a sound that spans punk, jazz, and avant-garde influences. Their reputation quickly grew after working with producer Dan Carey on standout singles and the Town Centre EP, leading to a deal with Warp Records. Their debut album, Bright Green Field (2021), released as live music returned post-pandemic, entered the UK top 5 and solidified Squid’s standing in the music scene.
In 2023, Squid’s sophomore album, O Monolith, expanded their sound in new, experimental directions, taking them on a global tour and gathering a dedicated fanbase eager for their bold, genre-blending style. Now, with their third album, Cowards, the band explores darker themes through eclectic textures of folk, psychedelia, and electronic elements.
