Toro y Moi, the brainchild of Chaz Bear, has been a genre-defying force in modern music, seamlessly blending elements of chillwave, indie rock, funk, and hip-hop across his evolving discography. Known for his experimental and boundary-pushing sound, Bear has never been content to stay in one lane, constantly reinventing himself while keeping his electronic roots at the forefront. His unique approach to production has earned him collaborations with top artists in the hip-hop and alternative scenes.
With Hole Erth (2024), Bear dives into new sonic territory, fusing rap-rock, Soundcloud rap, and Y2K emo with his signature electronic pulse. Featuring artists like Don Toliver and Benjamin Gibbard, the album blends anthemic pop-punk with autotuned melancholic rap, highlighting his knack for innovation. Toro y Moi’s live shows are as eclectic as his music, and his March 2025 performance at the Roundhouse promises to showcase his dynamic range and fearless creativity.
