VJing

Ages 18-25

Roundhouse Studios

Discover the exciting world of VJing – the art of mixing live visuals in real time to create immersive audiovisual experiences. VJing blends elements of DJing, electronic music, visual arts, and computing, allowing artists to manipulate video, graphics, and effects in response to sound and movement.

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll explore the evolution of VJing, from early experimental techniques like shadow puppetry and magic lanterns to modern video mapping and remix culture. You’ll also get to work with Modul8, Garage Cube, live video cameras, and sound interaction to craft your own dynamic visual performances.

What you’ll get

  • Hands-on experience with Modul8 and other live audiovisual tools.
  • The opportunity to experiment with samples, loops, MIDI, OSC, and live sound input.
  • One-on-one support to create your own 30-second to 1-minute VJing performance.
  • A collaborative space to connect with other creatives and explore new storytelling methods.
